Introducing Musician & Co. - A New Resource for Self-Employed Musicians

Introducing Musician & Co. - a new resource for self-employed musicians.jpg

Ten years ago, Steve and I finished our master’s degrees at the Eastman School of Music and set out to build careers in music.

We decided to make a move that was less common in our field at the time: Instead of heading to a big city with lots of opportunities to begin a freelance career, we moved to a small town in rural Massachusetts.

That became the impetus for everything that followed.

We began piecing together a portfolio of work: a part-time church position, an adjunct teaching job, a private studio, arts administration work, a chamber music festival, a blog (the one you’re reading!).

We both knew early on that we wanted to have control over our time, our creative work, and the mix of things that comprise our portfolio careers. Can you relate?

Being musicpreneurs gives us the freedom to create a career doing work that we find meaningful. And we wouldn't have it any other way.

We created Musician & Co. to help you do the same.

Our mission is to provide an innovative model for bridging the gap between the practice room and a profitable business.

Steve and I founded Musician & Co. with the ideal of equipping 21st-century musicians to be both artists and business owners. Our mission is to provide an innovative model for bridging the gap between the practice room and a profitable business.

We know what it’s like to have multiple interests, to struggle with the status quo and fear of failure. We know the work that goes into building a portfolio career from scratch.

Through Musician & Co. We’re dedicated to sharing our stories, strategies, and experiences and helping you develop the skills you need to thrive as a musicpreneur.
