Four Pieces for Christmas: A New Handbell Collection

Introducing my newest handbell collection - Christmas!

Four Pieces for Christmas is a digital collection of four pieces for the Christmas season. These pieces are designed to add a creative element into your services - thoughtful ways to incorporate handbells in new and unique ways.

The music in this collection is written for 2-3 octave handbells (12-17 bells), so they’re easy to learn and accessible for smaller (and younger) groups.

Use these pieces as preludes, anthems or offertories, and to accompany congregational singing. Performance notes are included for each piece.

What’s Included:

Still, Still, Still

This reflective arrangement of a beloved Christmas favorite is perfect for a candlelight Christmas Eve service.

The piece begins with a simple open fifth, gradually growing out of nothing using the singing bell technique. The singing bells underscore much of the arrangement, with the addition of handchimes partway through. The piece ends as simply and quietly as it began – with the singing bells fading away to nothing.

Hark! the Herald Angels Sing (Hymn Descant)

Use this descant on one or two verses of the carol, to add to the congregational singing experience. The descant matches the traditional harmony found in most hymnals. Includes two versions: one for 13 bells and one for 17 bells, depending on the size of your ensemble.

In the Bleak Midwinter

This simple setting of a Christmas favorite features sparkling cluster chords and beautiful, interesting harmonies, while still being accessible and easy to learn and play. Use it as a prelude, anthem, or offertory on Christmas Eve or during the Christmas season.

Joy to the World (Hymn Descant)

Use this bright, festive descant on one or two verses of the carol, to add to the congregational singing experience. The descant matches the traditional harmony found in most hymnals.
